On February 8th there was a storm which followed on from the one on 4-5th February. I have no pictures of the 4-5th February storm as Portland was cut off as the access road was flooded. In this picture the Environment Agency were on site and the flood gates were closed. The sea was breaking against the sea wall. In the foreground shingle had been thrown up onto the esplanade.
This zoom view taken from behind the upper sea wall shows the steps below the lower section of the sea wall and how much shingle had been eroded between 3rd February and 8th February.
This view taken by the Cove Inn shows how the gabion tower at the end of Chesil Beach had been damaged.
The storms had taken their toll on the gabion mattress. This picture was taken from the gabion tower by the Cove Inn.
The storms attracted a lot of interest from residents as shown by this picture taken from the end of Brandy Row.
