Visiting the site on 16th February under more favourable conditions, it was possible to see the degree of erosion. This picture shows the exposed Kimmeridge Clay after the beach shingle was stripped away.
Erosion had stripped away the shingle to show the undermined sea wall. It was not clear if this had occurred due to the storm of 14-15th February or whether it was re-exposing damage from an historic event.
Steel work from historic wrecks was also exposed and provided interest for marine archaeologists..
Interestingly, shingle had started to build up against the sea wall within days as shown by this picture taken on February 18th
