On Valentine's Day evening another storm struck with further erosion of the beach. This view taken from near the Heights Hotel on 15th February shows evidence of the degraded beach and the removal of any evidence of human interference on the seaward side although tracks of heavy vehicles are apparent on the landward side.
This view was taken near Quiddles Cafe and shows that the beach shingle had been completely eroded exposing the underlying Kimmeridge Clay for the first time in around 25 years. It also exposed metalwork from wrecked ships that had foundered in the past.
This picture shows how the Valentine Day storm eroded the beach to such an extent that the sea wall steps were exposed and indicated erosion of a depth of 3.5 metres of shingle. This would suggest that at least hundreds of thousands of tons of shingle had been removed from the beach during the storm.

This picture shows how extensive the scouring of the beach had been with fine sediment at the water's edge contrasting markedly with the normal shingle beach.
